I Will Not Be Rushed

Have you been able to notice when life is shifting? Is this what aging is like?
When I was in my teens, and up to my thirties, life just swirled me about. Life “happened” to me… fast! I was a true roller coaster rider.
These days, it’s as if time is slowing down, and somehow, I am aware of the faintest shift in the air. Has it happened to you?
It’s wonderful, really.
All my life as a young woman, I was told to “slow down”, to not be so hasty, to sit and wait.
God always told me to wait on Him, too.
Everyone everywhere I went told me to “wait”.
Today, I no longer want to be part of every group.
I don’t care to share my opinion with everyone I meet.
I also don’t make decisions on the spot.
I have had so many mistakes and erred so many times that maybe I’m getting the hang of this life thing?
My original form is that of a shrewd, impatient, and impulsive type A personality.
I remember causing myself so much stress and anxiety in the past because I chose to be angry.
I let my blood boil and my emotions lead the way.
Wow! Looking back, what a fool I was!
Because, at the end of the day, it really didn’t matter.
I got so wound up for stuff in the past.
And it’s so insignificant now that I can’t even remember why I got my panties in bunch to begin with!
The beautiful thing of it is that I don’t rush anymore.
I will get there when I get there.
They will see me when they see me.
I will answer when I answer.
I will get to it when I get to it.
Why?
Not because I became an a-hole or that I dismiss people’s feelings.
I simply don’t commit to much anymore.
Not because I lack commitment.
But because I am choosy with what I commit to now.
I am not arrogant. I am being selective with the energy I give out.
I spend too much time building myself from the inside out now that I am not going to just let anything from the outside unravel what I worked so hard for.
I like to preserve my peace and my joy, thank you very much.
I must thank God and my husband for this new version of me.
My husband is a lot older than I and he’s at an age where he sees what matters at his age and what truly doesn’t at my 48 years. He keeps me grounded and reminds me of what needs to be stressed about and what doesn’t. I feel so fortunate to have him because it’s like a glimpse to my future self and I’m all over it.
As I’ve leaned into the Word of God lately, and working on getting to Him, I’ve come to understand much more. I believe I am saved. I believe He is my protector and provider, and I know He has a plan for me. God has my back, so why should I worry?
This Sunday’s message was based on Psalm 23 and it has stuck with me all week so far. Psalm 23 is a passage about victory, rest and reward.
I am safe because God is with Me.
I do not fear death because I know where I will go.
And while I am not fully transformed yet, I am working towards listening to more of Him daily.
Today….
I don’t make decisions based on my own understanding or my own gut.
I listen to people that want to “counsel” me, but I don’t let it take root anymore.
If it’s not aligned with His word, I will not commit to it.
I’ve experienced so much peace and joy lately, by making one single adjustment to my life: Spending time with God in my Secret Place and not just asking Him for stuff, but really trying to listen to what He wants me to do today.
Where do I go?
What do I do?
Who do I serve?
When my life started putting Him first, my life has been flooded with peace in knowing that I am more than blessed. I feel safe, and truly, there is no need to rush to anything.
Wouldn’t it be so beautiful to have this inner peace every day?
It’s possible.
By sticking to His Word and leaning into Him.
Yes, my life is shifting.
The winds change and circumstances change.
So, here I was thinking I was finally getting “smart”, or “wise”, or “experienced”.
Nope.
Maturity does not always follow age.
A spiritual life with God grants wisdom to all.
It is not me.
It’s God’s work in my life.
I can’t wait to share it so here I am.
In a world of constant chaos, toxicity and uncertainty, isn’t nice to have a place where we can go for peace, love and joy?
Peace that Transcends
The ONLY thing that can give us this peace is Jesus.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7
I hope this inspires and moves you to seek more of His word. Even if just one single verse. Read it, and ask God for guidance. He will speak to you, if you let Him.
Until next time!
Your friend,
💙 Mirza
